Renkulab for summer school (4 days)

Hello,

As part of research activities and capacity building in Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan) we (Geography @Uni Fribourg) want to teach a group of students a hydrological model that runs in python. We do have some notebooks for that. Additionally, there is a QGIS interface to prepare the various input datasets.

I would like to know if we could use renkulab for this, if there is a possibility for the group of students (~10 to 20 people) to get access even tough not having a switch account (just through github), and if we could have some assurance to not run into a 4-day streak of maintenance.

The workshop is planned currently to be held between
11.8.-14.8.

All the best,
Eric

Hi Eric,

We would be glad to host your summer school on RenkuLab! To answer your questions:

  1. Yes, students can create RenkuLab accounts without needing a Switch account. They can sign up instead using the GitHub sign in. (See screenshot)
  2. To make sure that your course is not interrupted by any maintenance, please register your course. This will inform our operations team to plan maintenance accordingly.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions, or if you need additional compute resources for your course.

Best,
Laura
Renku Product Manager

Great. Many thanks already now and in advance. We will probably reach out to you when it comes to preparing the environments.

As soon as we get the course date confirmed we will fill out the registration.

Eric
