Here’s what’s new at Renku in the last month:
New Feature: Renku + Local VSCode!
A feature many of you have been asking for: you can now connect to your Renku sessions directly from your local VSCode application! To get started, run start_tunnel inside a session that’s using a global environment or code based environment (if your code based environment was last rebuilt before Sep 2, rebuild it for the command to be available). You’ll find step by step instructions in our docs, and check out the full release announcement on our blog. Let us know what you think!
We’ve moved!
Last month, RenkuLab made a smooth transition - or shall I say open heart surgery! - to its new happy home in Microsoft Azure. Read all about the transition plus what’s ahead for Renku compute integrations in our blog.
50 days left until Renku Legacy & GitLab Shut downs begin 
- The Renku Legacy front end will close next month on October 28
- gitlab.renkulab.io is shutting down in January 2026
