My pull request with a new template in the community contributed Renku projects repo was just merged by @rrrrrok, Thanks Rok for helping me test it and work out the issues.
This template provides more reproducible R environments through the use of the {renv} package which makes it possible to manage an R environment down to exact package versions across multiple package sources (Bioc, CRAN, & github) with relative ease.
There is also an optional feature to persist RStudio global config at a project level by setting an environment variable during the container build.
